My Sister's Best Friend, My Lover is about Sakikawa Sena having to let go of her sister whom she loved and finding a new role in life, all while being assisted by her sister's best friend, Mamiya Kiku.
Despite the Incest tag, there is no actual incestuous relationship involved in this story; she just loves her sister who is getting married (to a man, sadly). I liked how Sena's growth was built up very slowly and without rushing or anything. It gave a more realistic vibe than if it only took one or two key moments to get her to stop hating herself. The story also didn't focus entirely on Sena, instead showing both her and Kiku's perspective. Additionally, it had a somewhat big cast of sidecharacters, especially for a manga that small. Sometimes, I did feel as if there were a bit too many sidecharacters considering the size of the manga though; you tend to forget who is who, but it happens mostly in the beginning. One thing I didn't like is how it's mostly only Sena who causes difficulties in the relationship. Yes, she is the one that is healing, but it makes Kiku kind of look like a saint helping Sena all the time, which made the relationship kind of one-sided. The manga did have these themes of Kiku going too fast but never expanded upon them. Last but not least, I liked the outfits the characters wore, they looked really pretty and well put together.
This is another one of those manga which are a good read and which I recommend, but don't quite reach what I would consider a 4/5.
